Find yourself through movement.

Body Mind Repatterning. Based on the Feldenkrais Method. ®

A process for learning new, more efficient and graceful movement.

This new body-learning is transferred into similar improvements in thinking, behavior and emotional patterns.

The Feldenkrais Method as developed by Moshe Feldenkrais nearly fifty years ago is a well-recognized modality, with over 3,000 practitioners worldwide. Many active, creative individuals including dancers, athletes, musicians, and those practicing martial arts and yoga embrace the Method. The Method has been incorporated into such well-known drama programs as those at the University of Pittsburgh, New York University and Carnegie-Mellon, and fully one third of the 1100 ski instructors in Vail have participated in Feldenkrais classes.

In another application, physical therapists are increasingly incorporating the Method into their physical rehabilitation protocols. In fact in Switzerland the government health insurance covers Feldenkrais work under its physical therapy benefits, recognizing it’s potential for safe and lasting positive change.

Discover More Efficient Ways to Realize Your Goals.

In Body Mind Re-Patterning the teacher/practitioner explores movements with the student/client using verbal directions or gentle hands-on explorations. The intention is to discover what movements are easy and to support and assist the student in these familiar patterns. This way of exploring creates a sense of trust within the nervous system; the message is “I am not here to change you but to support you and to assist you in what you are already doing”. This process helps to release chronic tension and calms the entire nervous system. From this state new patterns and organizations can be explored and learned. This way of learning is based on the way babies developed their movement patterns, through non-stressful curious exploration. These newly learned patterns expand the field of easy comfortable movement possibilities. With movement like most things in life we go to the easy first, so if we have more possibilities in our easy comfortable repertoire then they tend to be the ones we use. This expanded repertoire is then available for us to move more fluidity and efficiently weather in simple acts like walking or more complex ones like yoga postures, dancing or sports. The larger the field of possibilities the easier it is for our brain to organize the most efficient pattern for each desired movement. This is how a martial artist can break several bricks with bare hands; it’s not so much the strength but the focused use of the neuromuscular system.

This physical way of being is also manifested in our thinking and behavior through the body/mind connection. We begin to enjoy improved breathing and sleep, greater mental clarity, more vitality

When our movement, thinking and behavior are fluid and efficient we are free to enjoy a more pleasurable way of life.

Modes of Teaching:

Group, Awareness Through Movement classes:
In Awareness Through Movement classes: participants are verbally instructed though gentle movement sequences while lying on the floor. The movement sequences are designed to release chronic tension and introduce new movement patterns to the nervous system. Once learned these new patterns help us to move more fluidity and efficiently with less likelihood of creating pain. This physical way of being is also manifested in our thinking and behavior through the body/mind connection, when our movement, thinking and behavior are fluid and efficient our spirit is freed to express itself.

Individual, Somatic Integration:

In Somatic Integration the individual is shown various movements by the teacher through hands on while lying on a low padded table the intention is the same as with the Awareness Through Movement classes except the teacher chooses movements that are individualized for the client. (see more explanation below)
